Let it not be said Wal-Mart doesn't care for its workers*
* Just not much.
Wally World is trying to demonstrate compassion for its enormous workforce ... with free polo shirts to commemorate 20 years of service, an extra 10 percent off one (1) item during the holiday season, and a program whereby store managers will meet weekly with 10 employees (er, associates) to allow them to air grievances.
Yup, I'm pretty sure these'll compensate for capping wages, creating inflexible scheduling hell and systematically retaliating against any worker who dares to utter the U-word. Maybe not.
“They are going to spend $15 on a Polo for you after 20 years? Give me a break,” one employee said. “We would rather they lift the wage caps.”
Workers of the Wally World, unite ... here. (I suppose that should actually be unite ... UFCW.)
